All generic extensions and certain country-code ones support a security lock feature whose purpose is to stop unsolicited transfers of active domain names. Lots of domain registry organizations that oversee ccTLDs that don’t support this feature are in the process of adopting it for the sake of security and for the convenience of the domain owners. A domain can be transferred only if it is unlocked and only an individual who has access to the account with the current registrar can do that. New domains are registered with the lock option enabled deliberately, so as to block any unwanted transfer attempts. The lock feature is one of the safety measures for controlling the transfer of active domain names between registrar companies that have been introduced over the years.

Registrar Lock in Shared Website Hosting

The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with each and every shared website hosting plan that we offer, will grant you complete control over your domain names. You will see all domain names registered through our company conveniently displayed in alphabetical order in a separate section of the Control Panel. Those whose extensions support the domain lock option will have a small padlock icon on their right. By clicking the icon, you can see if the specific domain name is locked or unlocked and you can change the current status by clicking once again – the process is as simple as that. You won’t have to wait for the update to take effect or for our company to do anything, as the change of the status takes effect momentarily, even if you notice something else on WHOIS lookup sites. After all, it takes time for such sites to update the information that they show.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Locking or unlocking any domain registered through our company is amazingly easy and can be done through the Hepsia Control Panel – the one via which you administer your semi-dedicated server. You’ll see all your domain names in the Domain Manager section and the ones whose extensions support the registrar lock feature will have a padlock icon on their right. You can unlock any domain by clicking on its icon and since the change will propagate immediately, you’ll be able to start the domain name transfer without having to wait for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup websites. If you change your mind and choose not to transfer the domain name away from us, locking it again will be just as simple and will not take more than a few clicks of the mouse in your Control Panel.
