The .SE country-specific top-level domain name extension was created in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its introduction, the registration procedure was really restrictive, so a very low number of domain names were acquired. Persons were allowed to buy no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a requirement, i.e. only Swedish persons, business entities and organizations were able to grab a .SE domain.
